Stop Smoking Aid - Something More Effective Than Nicotine Patches

By David Smythe

It is undeniable how popular the nicotine patches have become in smoking cessation. But, this fact is a bit surprising when you take into account that the nicotine patch is hardly the most effective stop smoking aid that is available. Very few people on the nicotine patch can permanently shake off the habit. Many a time, people on the nicotine patch are using the remedy just because the patch is the easiest method to employ. And it is really convenient - all one has to do is to stick the right patch at a place on the skin.

It is not at all wrong to say that the nicotine patch is today the most popular stop smoking aid in the world, which is used by several smokers to kick their habit. Perhaps their popularity stems from the fact that they are extremely easy to use, as the way to use them is just to stick them somewhere onto the skin. These transdermal nicotine patches are available in differing capacities such as 21 mg, 14 mg and 7 mg of nicotine for hardened, moderate and mild smokers respectively. Smokers are to choose the nicotine patches as per their smoking habits.

These limitations of the nicotine patches are known to medical science, but even then they are the most important stop smoking aids to be prescribed. The contention is the nicotine patches answer the person's addictive tendencies, but keep them away from the hazardous ingredients of cigarettes such as the deadly tar and carbon monoxide. Nicotine does not have any adverse health effects as these two substances have. Thus, a person who is on the nicotine patch is responding to the addictive craving, but remaining protected from the dangerous effects of the disease.

However, this in itself is a big problem. If the person is kept on nicotine patches, there is a very less chance that he or she will ever be de-addicted from nicotine. Nicotine might be harmless, but its addiction will continue in some form or the other. It is quite understandable if the person returns back to the nicotine in the cigarette, since he or she has never been de-addicted in the first place. There have been many cases of people who have reverted to active smoking even after long-term nicotine patch treatments. If this happens, then the chance of a heart failure increases, especially if the person also continues to consume alcohol.

And this has been proved true statistically. A large number of people on nicotine patches were followed up, and it was seen that in the long term, most of them reverted to smoking. Returning back to smoking gravely increased the chances of heart failure in them. Certainly, a nicotine patch is not the stop smoking aid one must choose, in that case.

Then there could be other problems using this stop smoking aid. Nicotine patches are transdermal, i.e. meant to be used on the skin. That could cause irritations in people with sensitive skins. In fact, in some people, the itching could be so severe that they might discontinue its use just to get rid of the discomfort.

So is there anything better and safer than the nicotine patch? Yes, certainly there is! The stop smoking aid to be considered today is certainly the herbal smoke cessation formulation. These contain just herbs - totally natural plant derivatives - that have a host of properties needed for cessation. These herbs can reduce the addiction, help cope with withdrawal symptoms and also flush out the toxins from the body. SmokeRX is a very effective herbal formula that has all these three properties rolled into one stop smoking aid.

There are various forms in which the herbal stop smoking aid is available. The most popular ones are the powders, capsules and pills. There are also herbal cigarettes available, which do not contain any nicotine, but replicate the same taste of cigarettes.
